Mr. Fernand Casavant became owner of the St-Jérôme Dairy on April 1st, 1946 and he stayed until 1971 and then he left the management to his son Bernard. During the next six years, Bernard modernized the business by adding and changing to new machinery. To facilitate its expansion outside the region, the "St-Jérôme Dairy" changed its name in 1981 to "Casavant Dairy" but keeping it's original name on the building.

In 1983, Casavant Dairy acquired the "Lowe Dairy" of Lachute. In 1984, another expansion was done adding six new loading docks, equipped with floor conveyors. Most of operations were in St-Jérôme but the company had many distributing centers which also included one located in Montreal.

On october 17, 1986 a fire broke out in the Casavant Dairy causing more than $1 million in damages. Operations were not stopped and they continued to deliver milk to customers while they were rebuilding the plant. In 1990, the "Casavant Dairy" was sold to the agriculture co-op "Agropur" which six months later was part of "Natrel Inc.". Today the dairy still operates under the same banner.
